Connectors and External Actions

Practice this question

A workflow often needs to retrieve or update information through APIs, databases, or external services. These integrations are commonly called connectors or tools.

For example:

Example
Workflow rule approves action
             |
             v
Authorization + confirmation check
             |
             v
Connector / API call
             |
             v
Result validation
             |
             v
Ledger update + audit event

The connector should not decide the overall business workflow. It performs a specific operation requested through an authorized workflow step.

Production systems also need timeouts, retries where safe, duplicate protection, and explicit handling for partial failures.
