Why did you choose the technology?
Practice this questionDiscussion template: use your own project facts, ownership, and measured outcomes. Bracketed text is a placeholder.
Short explanation:
A technology decision is a trade-off between requirements, team knowledge, existing systems and operating costs. Sometimes you selected the tool; sometimes you inherited it and made good use of it. Both are valid experiences when clearly distinguished.
Key points:
-
“We used [tool] because [real requirement/team reason].”
-
If you joined later, say the stack was already chosen and explain its fit.
-
Compare one realistic alternative and explain which requirement favored the actual choice.
Interview point:
- Do not invent a selection process if the stack was already fixed when you joined.
