Overview
One of the most important lessons I learned while working with AI-powered workflows is that an LLM does not need to make every decision.
For business processes where accuracy, repeatability, traceability, and control matter, a more reliable pattern is to use the LLM to understand what the user says and a deterministic workflow engine to decide what happens next.
This approach can be described as LLM-Assisted Deterministic Workflow Automation, or a hybrid AI architecture.
The core principle is simple:
LLM extracts information. The workflow engine applies rules. The application performs approved actions.
